Privacy Policy
Effective July 3, 2026
What's My EQ Score is a free emotional intelligence test published by Leading Between The Lines. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what the test records about you and what we do with it. We have tried to keep it short, because a privacy policy you can actually read is more useful than one you can't.
The short version
- We ask for your first name and email so we can show your results and send our newsletter.
- We store your EQ scores and answers so we can improve the test over time.
- We never sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers.
- You can have everything we hold about you deleted by sending one email.
What the test records, and why
Everything below is tied to a specific purpose. If a piece of information doesn't serve one of these purposes, we don't keep it.
- Your first name and email — entered by you before your results. These let us personalize your results and send you the newsletter described below.
- Your answers and EQ scores — your overall score plus your four domain scores (Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management), and the raw responses behind them. We keep these so we can study how the questions perform and make the test more accurate.
- The three optional context questions — your role, goal, and organization size, only if you answer them. They help us understand who the test is serving.
- A one-way hash of your IP address — we never store the address itself. It is immediately converted to an irreversible fingerprint that lets us spot a single source submitting the form hundreds of times, and nothing else.
- Basic request details — the page that referred you, your browser's user-agent string, and any campaign (UTM) tags on your link. These tell us how people find the test.
The newsletter
Entering your email to see your results also subscribes you to Leading Between The Lines, our newsletter on leadership and team dynamics, which is delivered through beehiiv. Every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect your ability to use the test.
Where your data lives
Your results are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon. The site itself runs on Vercel, which also provides lightweight, cookie-based analytics about page visits. Your email is held by beehiiv for newsletter delivery. We rely on these providers' own security practices and add reasonable safeguards of our own, but no online service can promise perfect security.
Cookies
The test sets no marketing or cross-site tracking cookies. The only cookies in play are an authentication cookie used when an administrator logs into the dashboard, and the basic analytics cookies Vercel may set to count visits.
Keeping, and deleting, your information
We keep your data until you ask us to remove it. You can request a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or have it deleted entirely, at any time and for any reason. Email chad@whatsmyeqscore.com and we will take care of it.
This test is for adults
What's My EQ Score is written for working adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted the form, contact us and we will delete the record.
Updates and how to reach us
If our practices change, we will revise this page and update the effective date at the top. Questions about your data or anything on this page can go to chad@whatsmyeqscore.com.
